On the 9th of March my colleague Elena got married to John Miles in the Elgin valley, on the beautiful South Hill Wine Estate. I’ve been to few weddings on wine farms as have we all, but this one really impressed me. Quietly tucked away down a long dirt road deep in the valley, this farm boasts beautiful lawns and stunningly decorated cottages which the bridal couple hired for the weekend for the family, bridesmaids & groomsmen. I was lucky enough to get to stay the night at the cottage and it was truly 5 star luxury, with beautiful modern finishings.
As Elle knew of my photography hobby she encouraged me to take some photo’s at the wedding to get some wedding practice ;). She did have an official professional photographer, who i’m sure I annoyed the hell out of, especially in the prepping stages of the Wedding as that is when I had the most opportunity to take some shots. I managed to get a few with my zoom lens of the actual nuptials from my seat on the isle, again probably annoying the poor folk trying to see behind me.
Anyway, so this was my first kinda attempt at wedding photography, granted I couldn’t run around snapping shots from all angles as I also had to sit in my seat an behave like a guest. Hoping John & Elle’s family and friends will enjoy these while they’re still away on honeymoon. Pls also go to the portfolio tab at top right and scroll down to “Wedding” to see more of the pictures taken, as I didn’t post them all in this blog post, just a few of the ones I really liked :). Feel free to leave comments and let me know what you like 🙂
Please take note of all the special little details Elle spent hours making. The lace on the candles, the little gold creatures, gold strings of sequence, and she hand picked the roses herself the day before. These reflect the colourful palette and fun ambiance she wanted to create for her family and friends. Instead of a traditional wedding cake Elle opted for a tower of mini cinnabuns 🙂
